HYDERABAD: The state government will deploy medical teams at 17 major
Pushkaram ghats to help pilgrims. The medical camps will function
round-the-clock, during the 12-day festival.
Speaking to reporters here on Friday, Health minister P Laxma Reddy said medical teams would be posted at 17 major ghats including Basara, Dharmapuri, Kaleswaram and Bhadrachalam. One special officer, three medical officers, three nurses, three ANMs and three attenders would be posted at each of the medical camps, the minister said.
A medical officer would be available at other minor ghats, he added. The medical teams will be ready to tackle diarrhoea and other diseases, apart from providing emergency care in case of stampede or drowning, said Laxma Reddy. A senior official will coordinate arrangements from Hyderabad during the 12 days.
