A Sub Inspector Sankara Rao (38) who was drafted for Godavari Pushkaram duties was died in an accident on Thursday night.
Sources said that Sankara Rao who is working as Sub-Inspector Guntur West Traffic has reported for pushkaram duties a three days back. When he was discharging his duties on Thursday night over the fourth bridge here on a two wheeler rammed a sand heap and fell on the road. An unidentified vehicle that was coming in the direction went over him killing him on the spot itself.
Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu expressing grief over the incident announced Rs.10 lakh ex-gratia to the kith and kin of the deceased. The police registered a case and are investigating.
