Religious fervour and grandeur marked the Shobha Yatra of "Godavari Pushkara Sare" in Tirumala today.
Tirumala-Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Executive Officer D Sambasiva Rao along with Tirumala Joint Executive Officer KS Sreenivasa Raju took part in this procession which started from Sri Venkateswara temple to Vaibhavotsava Mandapam.
Later, speaking to media persons, Dr Rao said turmeric, vermilion, silk saree will be presented to River Godavari on the first day of Maha Pushkaram.
"These sacred gift items will reach Rajamundry on July 11 in the Srivari Dharma Radham covering the local temples in Tiruchanoor, Srikalahasti, Nellore, Amaravathi, Anantavaram, Mangalagiri, Vijayawada and Dwaraka Tirumala. Shobha Yatra will also be observed for an hour in all these places also before reaching Rajamundry. These holy items will be presented to River Godavari on July 14, the day of commencement of Pushkarams", he maintained.
The EO also said, TTD has made elaborate arrangements for the mega event. "Our replica temple shaped up very well. We are expecting a pilgrim crowd of about 50-70,000 per day to visit our temple after sacred Pushkara Snanam", he added.UNI VV GM AK1832
